Itinerary at a glance

1 11am · Pickup on Johnson St, Byron

Meet the bus on Johnson St in the middle of town (we email the exact spot before the day). No early alarm, so grab a coffee on the way. Then it's a short drive south, out of town and up into the green hinterland.

2 Stop 1 · Killen Falls

A short bush track through subtropical rainforest brings you out at a waterfall pouring off a rock ledge into a deep pool. Your guide points out the plants and birdlife on the way in, then there's time to take it all in and get the photos from the rocks.

3 Stop 2 · Lake Ainsworth

A freshwater lake tucked behind the dunes at Lennox Head, its water stained a deep tea colour by the paperbarks growing round its edge. We spread out on the grass by the shore for the slow part of the day while your guide explains how a lake like this forms.

4 Lunch · Beachside at Lennox Head

Lunch at a café by the beach in Lennox, with options for every budget and diet (not included in the price). Lennox Point is one of the East Coast's famous right-hand point breaks, so there's usually surfing to watch while you eat.

5 Stop 3 · Broken Head coastal walk

An easy walk through coastal rainforest in Broken Head Nature Reserve, out to headland lookouts over quiet, hidden beaches. From June to November, watch for humpback whales cruising past close to shore, and keep an eye out for dolphins in the bays below.

6 Late afternoon · Back in Byron

Drop-off back in town in the late afternoon: sun-tired and in time for sunset.

    11am on Johnson St, Byron Bay — we confirm the exact spot by email 48 hours before, and you're back in Byron in the late afternoon. Free parking at the Byron RSL carpark if you're driving in.

  • What should I bring?
    Shoes you can walk in, a hat, a water bottle and a camera. We supply sunscreen and top up your water on board.

  • Can I swim on the tour?
    No. This is a guided walking and nature tour. The council doesn't recommend swimming at Killen Falls because the water quality isn't regularly tested, so we keep everyone out of the water at every stop.

  • Is lunch included?
    Not in the price — we stop at a beachside café at Lennox Head with options for every budget and dietary need, so you're not locked into a set menu.

  • How much walking is there?
    Short, easy tracks at each stop, taken at a relaxed pace. If you can manage some uneven ground and a few steps, you'll be fine.

  • What's the cancellation policy?
