Overview

The Get Wrecked tour is named for the Tangalooma Wrecks and calibrated for maximum activity-per-hour. You cross Moreton Bay on the air-conditioned MiCat ferry (café and bar aboard, so the day starts civilised), and from there the schedule refuses to sit still. First, the wrecks: a fully guided snorkel around the sunken fleet, where turtles, dolphins, coral and thousands of reef fish have moved into the rusting hulls (conditions permitting). Then the tour's party trick, transparent kayaks, gliding you over the famous fish frenzy with the whole underwater show visible between your feet. Then the island's interior: the 4WD 'Tough Bus' hauls you along rugged tracks to The Desert, where sand toboggans hit speeds up to 70km/h and dignity goes optional. Wetsuits, safety vests, all equipment and a make-your-own wraps lunch are included, with return bus transfers ex Brisbane. Just bring the $85 local access fee (parks and ferry), paid to the driver on departure.
