Overview

Some reef days are expeditions. This one is a pontoon parked at Moore Reef with a waterslide bolted to it, the most convenient, least stressful way to spend a day on the Great Barrier Reef, with everything you need stacked on one stable platform. Check in at the Reef Fleet Terminal in Cairns from 8:45am, depart at 10:15am, and the pontoon is yours until the 5:30pm return: snorkelling with gear and instruction included, a glass bottom boat tour, the semi-submersible (conditions permitting), the sundeck for the in-between, and that waterslide, which you will absolutely go back on. A tropical buffet lunch and a marine biologist presentation round it out. It's the pick for anyone who wants maximum reef with minimum logistics, strong swimmers and nervous first-timers end up equally happy. Hotel transfers aren't included, but the terminal is an easy walk from most of Cairns.

"We had the best day, hands down the best experience we had in the 9 days we were in North Queensland. The Reef was beautiful and the staff were very helpful and experienced. We paid extra and did the Sea Walk which was once in a lifetime opportunity. Can't wait to get back to Moore Reef."
