Day boats give certified divers two dives and a schedule. Reef Encounter gives you the reef on tap: two days and a night living aboard at the outer Great Barrier Reef, with up to six dives, including the one that changes people, the night dive, when the reef switches shifts and the torchlight finds everything the daytime hides. The liveaboard moves between a variety of spectacular outer reef sites, so each dive reads differently. Between them: proper cooked meals, breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, with fruit, tea and coffee all day and dietaries catered when you book ahead. All dive and snorkel equipment is included except wetsuit hire, and reef levies are covered. Bring your certification card and your log book; this trip fills both. Extras like guided dives, nitrox, transfers and the Top Deck Club upgrade are available if you want to trick it out.
