Overview

Cape Tribulation is the only place on Earth where two World Heritage sites touch, the Daintree Rainforest runs straight into the Great Barrier Reef. This tour launches from exactly that seam, which is why the reef out here feels so untouched: it's a fast, exhilarating ride to Mackay Reef, far from the big-boat routes. You get two different snorkel sites and around two hours in the water, with personalised snorkel instruction for anyone finding their fins and reef interpretation from the crew between swims. Green sea turtles graze this reef, and swimming alongside one is the kind of thing that quietly rearranges your week. All snorkel equipment is included; wetsuits and prescription masks are there to hire if you want them. A courtesy bus handles local transfers, and you're done by lunch, half a day that outperforms most people's full ones.

"This was a great snorkel experience. It was a quick boat ride out to the reef. … We snorkeled in two sites. The coral and fish were beautiful. Also, one our drive to Cape Tribulation, we saw a cassowary on the road."

"The reef itself is awesome, being on a little private sandbar beach 20km offshore! No turtles seen, but plenty of beautiful reef fish."
