Kings Canyon & George Gill Range Helicopter

Overview

From the rim walk, Kings Canyon is impressive. From the air, it makes sense, 440 million years of geology laid out below you, sheer red walls dropping into the gorge, and the George Gill Range running off toward the horizon like a rumpled blanket. The 30-minute flight lifts off near Kings Canyon Resort (complimentary air-conditioned van pickup included) and tracks over the canyon and along the range to Petermann Pound, where wild camels and brumbies can sometimes be spotted moving across the country below. The return leg takes in Back Canyon, with your pilot narrating the geology and history the whole way. It's a maximum of four passengers, with multiple departures daily from 8am to 5pm, 365 days a year, weather permitting. Wear enclosed non-slip shoes, and note passengers over 125kg need to book an extra seat. Short flight, enormous country.
