Kakadu 2 Day - Colours of Kakadu

Day 1 We start early in the morning to witness the stunning sunrise over the ever-changing Adelaide River floodplains. Close by lies the fascinating Fogg Dam Conservation Reserve, a sanctuary showcasing a diverse range of wildlife, from birds and reptiles to mammals, spanning across wetlands, floodplains, woodlands, and monsoonal forests. While having breakfast, you can enjoy the company of the birds and have coffee with the critters! Our next stop takes us to the edge of Kakadu and Arnhem Land, where we'll embark on the award-winning Guluyambi Culture Cruise. For 90 minutes, we'll spot wildlife, learn about indigenous culture, and hear captivating stories from a local Aboriginal guide. It's important to keep our hands inside the boat at all times as this river has one of the highest populations of estuarine crocodiles in the world. After surviving the adventure, we'll have lunch overlooking the renowned Cahills Crossing before heading to our accommodation for a well-deserved break. Take the time to freshen up, go for a swim in the pool, or take a nap. Late in the afternoon, we'll journey down to Nawurlanja to witness a breathtaking view of the sun setting over the ancient Arnhem escarpment, illuminating the horizon in shades of ochre. Finally, we'll return to Jabiru for dinner at the in-house restaurant. Day 2 We rise early, before the birds, and head to Cooinda to embark on the world-renowned Yellow Waters sunrise cruise. With expert local commentary, this is the ideal cruise to witness the awakening of wildlife on the wetlands. After the cruise, enjoy a full buffet breakfast at Cooinda Resort before immersing yourself in the comprehensive Aboriginal culture center, Warradjan. With stories, images, crafts, art, and more, Warradjan is a place to reflect and absorb knowledge. You may also have the opportunity to learn the craft of string making and weaving from female elders (subject to availability). Next, we journey towards Anbangbang Billabong and Nourlangie, both rich in natural values and significant areas of past and present environmental interaction for the local Indigenous people. Nourlangie's sandstone massifs are adorned with a wealth of rock art, providing a perfect depiction of life through the ages for Australia's first peoples. Take your time and ask your guide any questions you may have. After the walk, enjoy lunch by Anbangbang Billabong before taking a 30-minute scenic flight over the region, providing a unique perspective from 2000 ft. We depart Jabiru around 3:30 pm, and expect to be back in Darwin around 7 pm.
