Overview

The Grampians are one of Australia's most ancient mountain ranges, and their older name, Gariwerd, comes with tens of thousands of years of story. This tour does both versions of the place: the postcard lookouts and the living culture, anchored by a visit to Brambuk the National Park & Cultural Centre. The day works through the range's greatest hits: summit views from Reeds and Boroka Lookouts, the jutting rock shelf of The Balconies, and MacKenzie Falls, where the 160 steps down to the base are repaid in full by the spray at the bottom. Guided bush walks (around 4km, fitness permitting) get you off the bitumen, wild emus and kangaroos are regular company, and Halls Gap village makes for an easy wander. You travel in an air-conditioned mini-coach with an experienced driver-guide, inner-Melbourne pickups, park fees included and a translation app in ten languages. Bring lunch money; bring more camera storage.

"We spend a lot of time driving and you should be in good shape to do the optional tours of swimming with the manta rays and whale sharks but it's totally worth it. Western Australia is such a special place and Coral Bay and Exmouth were truly unforgettable!"
