Overview

Plenty of boats can show you the Great Barrier Reef. Only one crews the day with Indigenous sea rangers who can tell you what it means, the Dreamtime stories, the sea-country knowledge, the sixty-plus millennia of connection that turn a snorkel site back into a living place. The day visits two spectacular outer reef locations: Moore Reef, then Milln or Flynn Reef depending on conditions, so you get two distinct ecosystems and double the water time. Between swims, the rangers share culture in a way no laminated fish chart ever could, this is the reef as the world's oldest continuing culture knows it. Lunch, morning tea and afternoon tea are all included across the eight-hour day; intro and certified dives are available as extras if you want to get beneath the surface in both senses. Of all the ways to meet the reef, this is the one with the deepest roots.

"It was a really great tour, an aboriginal and cultural perspective and storytelling while going back and forth from the reefs. Very easy to just dive in when you reach the new site and good snorkeling equipment provided."

"Not only were the reefs amazing, but the marine biologists and cultural guides were very informative and very caring in explaining a lot about the reefs and their heritage. They talked about the history of their culture as it relates to the reefs, showed us some of the traditional tools used for hunting, and there was a fascinating and fun didgeridoo demonstration."
