Overview

This is the Blue Mountains trip for people who actually want to walk in the Blue Mountains. The centrepiece is a 90-minute-to-two-hour bushwalk, widely rated the region's best, past multiple waterfalls, lookouts, clifftops and Undercliff paths, all the way to the base of a waterfall that most tours only photograph from above. The day runs on local knowledge: a relaxed morning coffee stop in Glenbrook (the guide's home town), the Three Sisters at Katoomba with the Aboriginal Dreamtime story behind them, and a fresh café-made picnic lunch with every dietary covered, your guide checks on the bus that morning. No animal captivity stops, no surprise charges. It's a minibus, not a 50-seat coach, with fun Aussie guides and an adult vibe (14+, slightly flexible for families by email). Note there's no hotel-to-hotel pickup loop, that time goes into the mountains instead, which is rather the point.

"It was a small group of about 20 people which made the day very enjoyable. Especially notable was the hike around Wentworth Falls. To get to the bottom required using the "Stairs of Doom." It was a little daunting to climb up so many stairs on the way back up the falls, but with frequent breaks it is doable. The lunch was excellent."
