Overview

Siska IV is a yacht with history, a classic sailer built for racing, now running the Whitsundays with a maximum of 23 aboard. She's the pick if you've got limited time but still want the overnight version: real sailing, a real crew, and mates you didn't have two days earlier. The route hits the icons: Whitehaven Beach's silica sand, the Hill Inlet lookout, and snorkelling in Great Barrier Reef waters with equipment and stinger suits provided. A skipper, deckhand and host run the boat and the meals; you can learn the ropes, literally, they'll teach you to sail, or do absolutely nothing on deck, which is also a valid itinerary. Linen, wet-weather jackets and Marine Park fees are all included. BYO drinks (no glass, no red wine, the deck thanks you). Minimum age is 15, with under-18s accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Itinerary at a glance

1 Day 1

Meet your crew at Port of Airlie at 8.00 am for a headcount. Depart the marina at 8:30 am. Feeling energized? Help hoist the sails! Otherwise, sit back and relax as you float across the Whitsunday Passage to Whitsunday Island, finding anchorage at Tongue Bay. Take a guided bush walk to Hill Inlet Lookout to view Whitehaven Beach. You will then have a couple of hours to explore. In the afternoon you’ll sail north to another island where you’ll anchor just before sunset. After dinner, grab a drink and enjoy the evening.

2 Day 2

Early rise for breakfast, then kit up with snorkelling gear, ready to jump in over the fringing coral reefs to see the marine life. Morning tea will be served before heading to another location for a swim, snorkel or beach stop. After lunch, it is time to set the sails once again and make your way across the Whitsunday Passage. Arriving back at the Port of Airlie at 4 pm.
