K'gari's problem is arithmetic: more world-class stops than any single day can hold. Three days solves it. This 4WD eco tour gives the island room to breathe, swims that don't end at a guide's whistle, and golden hours at places day-trippers only see at noon. The roll call is complete: Lake McKenzie's blinding white sand, the rainforest at Central Station, a float down Eli Creek, the Maheno shipwreck, the climb over the sandblow to Lake Wabby, Indian Head's lookout, where sharks, rays and whales patrol the water below in season, and the fizzing Champagne Pools. Your experienced eco guide drives, narrates and handles the logistics; you handle the swimming. Camping is the classic way to do it (an upgrade to the award-winning Kingfisher Bay Resort exists for the tent-averse), and most meals are covered, just sort your own lunch on days two and three.
