Overview

This is the smart way to ride the Queenstown Trail: shuttle up to Arrowtown in the morning, then spend the day rolling the 34-to-36 kilometres home, downhill-ish, self-guided, and entirely on your own clock. The route strings together the Arrow River Bridges and Twin Rivers trails through the Wakatipu Basin: river gorges, a run of swing bridges, and mountain views the whole way, on well-maintained compacted gravel with only small, low-gradient hills. Riding time is around 3.5 to 4 hours, but you've got up to six before the bike's due back, enough to poke around historic gold-mining Arrowtown first, or detour to the Shotover Bungy site to watch braver people scream. Everything's included: hardtail or electric bike, helmet and protective gear, fitting, safety briefing, route map and on-call mechanical support. Bring your own snacks and water, pick your pace, and finish at the shop in Queenstown feeling like you earned dinner.

"This trail from Arrowtown to Queenstown is absolutely stunning. Arrowtown itself is worth at least an hour to visit before you set off. The views are just once in a lifetime. Trail is well marked and the team are great."
