The boat is called Wild Thing, it runs 800 horsepower, and its driver's job description is making eleven people scream in a scenic location. The Ultimate Blast is Airlie Beach's concentrated adrenaline product: thirty minutes of 180 and 360-degree spins, power stops and drifts around Pioneer Bay, delivered with live commentary and zero mercy. Between stunts, and there are genuine betweens, the Whitsundays coastline does its postcard routine, and the bay's residents make appearances: sea turtles, dugongs and stingrays all cruise these waters, visible in the calm moments before the driver's grin returns. Lifejackets, spray jackets and spray glasses are provided, lock boxes keep your valuables dry, and the GoPro photos are free via Facebook afterwards, capturing your face at maximum honesty. It departs Coral Sea Marina (no pickups, easy walk). Skip it if you're pregnant or have back, neck or heart issues, Wild Thing does not do gentle.
