There's a specific grin that happens the first time you squeeze a jetski throttle in open water. This tour is built around it: your own Sea-Doo, the Whitsundays' protected bays, and 90 minutes to work out exactly how much fun you're legally allowed to have. Departing Coral Sea Marina in Airlie Beach with a maximum of 12 riders, your guide leads you along the coastline of the Whitsunday Island Marine Park with commentary through the good bits, and eyes down for sea turtles, with dugongs, seabirds and even humpback whales possible between July and September. Everything's provided: lifejackets, rash tops, thermals, wetsuit shorts, polarised sunnies, helmets, sunscreen, bottled water. Tour photos land free on Facebook after. No licence, no experience, no problem, first-timers are the norm. There's even a courtesy bus around Airlie Beach, so the only thing you organise is turning up.
