Overview

Some drop zones are all business. This one sends you to the plane in a Hummer, which sets the tone for an operation that's earned its spot as New Zealand's #1-rated skydive on TripAdvisor: serious about safety, deeply unserious about everything else. The jump itself is the classic 12,000-foot tandem: gear-up and briefing with the famously friendly crew, the climb with views widening the whole way, then out the door strapped to a professional while the world does its best impression of a map. All gear and safety equipment is supplied; your job is exactly one word: yes. You'll walk away with a free buff and a certificate of completion, and there are photo and video packages if you want the evidence (recommended, nobody believes skydive stories without footage). One note: bookings run on minimum numbers to keep flights efficient, so leave a phone number and email when you book.

"We went up to 15,000 feet under crystal-clear autumn skies, and the views were nothing short of surreal. As we climbed, the sun was starting to dip over the western side of Lake Taupō, casting the most incredible golden glow across the landscape. We could see fresh snow on the mountains and even a perfectly clear view of Mount Taranaki in the distance. It honestly felt like we were floating inside a postcard."
