Overview

Most drop zones give you farmland. This one gives you two glaciers, New Zealand's highest mountain and the Tasman Sea, all visible in the same 30 seconds of freefall. The Te Wahipounamu World Heritage Area is arguably the most scenic piece of sky on Earth, and you get to fall through it at 200km/h. Check-in is at 63 Cron Street in Franz Josef, and the whole experience runs two to three hours. After the briefing you climb over rainforest, ice and coastline to 10,000 feet, exit strapped to a professional tandem master, and let gravity handle the itinerary until the canopy opens and the world goes quiet. Photo and video packages are paid add-ons, instructor camera, a personal photographer flying alongside, or both, and given what's in the frame here, they're worth genuine consideration. This is the jump that ruins all other jumps.

"The dive was insane, 85 seconds of free fall. The weather cleared up perfect, the views blissful of the glaciers and snow capped mountains and the experience once in a lifetime."
